Description
This large Ammonite Harpoceras falcifer comes from the Kromer family quarry in Ohmden near Holzmaden. The fossil comes from the Oelschiefer. It is also called Posidonia Shale in other areas. The fossil comes from the Lias epsilon 2 and 3. The large Ammonite Harpoceras falcifer is accompanied by a smaller Harpoceras. Among Ammonites, the females are larger and the male are smaller, often very small. But it could also be a younger one.
Like to all other fossils from the Holzmaden area, a fixative (Tiefengrund ) is applied.
Plate is 30,5 x 24 cm or 12 x 9,5 inch.
